All You Need is Love

These are interesting times is an understatement. I find myself being surprised over and over and over again. The times I find myself most caught off guard are usually when I learn through a conversation or on Social Media that a longtime friend or relative "stands on the other side" of something that I feel very passionate about. We hear over and over that it is time for Christians to rise up and take their place in our nation. It is not a time to be silent. But what does that even look like? Where do we rise up? How do we rise up? What does taking a stand even look like?

This morning my heart was heavy as I read my Bible and prayed. I felt that a longtime friendship and relationship was being threatened because we stood on different sides. We believed differently about what we thought God was saying. That is what is so hard. We as Christians are disagreeing and we are passionate about where we stand. We are ALL seeking God. That is so puzzling to me.

As I prayed I believe the Lord spoke very clearly about where I need to stand and what my response should be in these chaotic and confusing times. He assured me that there is indeed a spiritual battle and it is raging. The major weapon in this battle is divisiveness. God said, "Divisiveness must always be conquered in love. The Truth is to love God and to love my neighbor. It is not in who should lead our nation or whether or not I should wear a mask. Truth rises above and looks over all that. Many feel helpless and afraid and they just want to DO something. That only fuels the bitterness and rage. Don't be afraid to speak or to minister. Don't be afraid to carry God's message of grace, abundance, freedom and love. God's way is to love."

What I took from that today was that I should respond, but every time I respond it should be spoken in love. My job is not to judge or decide where others should stand or what they should stand for. That is God's job. My job is to love. We as Christians do need to rise up. What we DO in our uprising is work hard to not judge or condemn. We must work hard to love. It is there we will find unity. When we find unity the enemy cannot stand.
