Just Take It!

"Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you .... It shall be your territory. I will not leave you or forsake you. Be strong and of good courage." Joshua 1:3-6 As I was standing beside our building this past week speaking with a couple of donors, I was showing them the new property we had just purchased. It looks like a parking lot but it struck me so powerfully - look at the territory that the Lord has given us. Wow! From our little corner we have 'taken' the property behind us all the way to Jackson. We have 'taken' the property to the east all the way to Van Buren.

This weekend was our Sole 4 Soul Race. When I read this verse at our Bible Study at the PARC, it struck me so powerfully that where our soles touch, souls are being won. People are being changed. God is giving us the land!! Land we did not plan on, but He is giving it to us. We must establish ourselves on our new property. We purchased it and now we must TAKE it.

If you remember this story in Joshua God told them that there are giants in the land. Yes, there are giants in our land, too. Giants such as inflation and needing money. There are giants of rejection, anger, addiction, shame and fear. These giants of homelessness are HUGE, but He promises to be with us wherever we go. He reminds us to be strong and courageous. Defeating the giants requires bravery and courage, but He is giving us the land!! We just have to conquer the giants.

In each battle the Lord gave specific strategies. Most often they did not make sense, but they worked. March around a wall and blow trumpets??? I must trust that He will continue to give us specific strategies as we move forward to take the land and establish our territory. We need to listen and do all that He says to do. It is then that the walls come down and the giants are defeated. I believe that there is more land to take. We still need the corner at 6th and Jackson, but I believe for it. Our board and many of you have said that you believe for it. There are giants in the land and we will be strong and of good courage. We will defeat these giants and claim the land which the Lord has given us.
