The Beauty of the Whole
This week the PARC received a sizable check, at least by our standards. Oh my goodness. Our hearts rejoiced. Yes, we need the money, but the check meant so much more to us than just its monetary value.
When I called the donor to thank him I shared with him how his check impacted us. He had told us that he woke up in the middle of the night and felt a nudge by the Holy Spirit. This donation reminded us that God sees us and He knows our needs. It helped us to remember that God is talking to other people about us so that they can be a part of the ministry that takes place here. It gave us faith for what lies ahead.
As we visited he thanked me for what we do. It was very important for me to help him to see that he is a vital part of what happens at the PARC. He is a part of the 'we'. For a place like the PARC to have its full impact, the body of Christ must do its part. We need the prayers, the volunteers, the donations and every single person needs to be thanked for what WE do. If he had not listened to the Holy Spirit and followed that 'nudge', all of the impact we experienced would not have occurred. Our fiscal needs were met and our faith was encouraged. One of our members made the comment as she was leaving yesterday, "I am so glad I came. It helps me see that I'm not as messed up as I thought I was." People's lives are being changed and finding their value. We all just do our part.
I think it is so important that we don't ever minimize the part we play in God fulfilling His purposes and showing His love THROUGH us. We must not compare it or wish we could do more. We just need to do our part. When we do our part amazing things happen. When we do our part we become a significant part of something bigger. Often times we don't get to know exactly what difference we have made, but we can rest assured that when we choose to participate, God is able to do abundantly more than we could ask or imagine.
