Day 94 at the PARC

here is power at the PARC. We say that often, because we get to witness the power of change happen for so many of those that are homeless on a daily basis. What we don't often talk about is how the PARC changes us. I can't explain it, but it fascinates me how it doesn't matter where we come from, where we fall on the social spectrum, how much money we have or don't have, something happens when people choose to be a part of the PARC.

We have a fairly new employee. Micah has been on staff for a little over 3 months. She sent me a letter the other day describing the things that she has experienced since becoming a part of the PARC. She titled it "Day 94 at the PARC"

In Micah's own words:
"Today, on day 94 of working at the PARC I realize I am not talking a lot about the members, the stories, the volunteers, or the victories I have seen. I'm not talking about the lives that are impacted, all of the details God has worked out, or the day to day successes that are endless. Today, I see what God is doing for me. You don’t have to be homeless, jobless, or in recovery for God to work a miracle for you. You can be someone who is just trying to get through the day, trying not to be frustrated at your circumstances, trying to be grateful for all that you have, and God will show you that He has more.

As my life was going I didn’t think I was important, understood, cared about, or loved. On day 94 of working at the PARC I realize I couldn’t have been more wrong. I am seen, I am understood, I am important, and most importantly….I am loved. I am loved in a way I didn’t know existed. I am being taken care of when I don’t even know how to ask. The details that He pays attention to are so vast and beyond our comprehension, but when we find them are delightful. We realize that even the smallest/dumbest things are important to God.

On day 94 of working at the PARC…..I could summarize all of the individual lessons I have I learned… but the biggest is this. God loves me, and knows me, and cares about me. Not just my needs, but my wants and desires. His heart is to give me that, and He will uproot my life to show it to me. He will present me with the impossible to show me it is possible. He will challenge my doubt and fear with compassion and confidence. He will show me time and time again how faithful He is. Even when in the moment I can’t see it, He will remind me again, and again, and again that I am loved. And that is what the PARC has done for me."

There is power at the PARC, and no matter how you choose to become a part it is available. Thank you for the role you play in helping keep the the PARC not only a place of safety and peace, but a place of power, change and love.
